Coconut milk and other nut milk are readily available in almost every grocery store these days. While the store brands are great for convenience, because of the stabilizers and preservatives used to make it shelf and refrigerator stable, the flavor cannot compare to homemade.

Fresh homemade coconut milk is easy to make. All you need is a couple of tools and fresh DIY coconut milk is at your fingertips. It also saves refrigerator space for other things.

A high-speed blender is required to extract maximum flavor from the coconut (my personal favorite is this Blendtec but this Oster beehive blender does a decent job). A nut milk strainer or bag removes sediment from the final product.

DIY nut milk tends to separate so make sure to stir or shake before use.
