Pecan pie is one of my holiday favorites. I almost never get it because most of my family does not particularly care for the taste. I have to admit it is a very sweet and rich pie and not as healthy as a fruit pie but what is the point of the holiday’s if not to indulge. Making a pecan pie smoothie seemed like the perfect way to scratch that itch.
Desserts are one area that translates really well to the raw vegan diet. Most of the flavors (and some textures) can be recreated. Although the texture is not the same, smoothies are a particularly simple way to add additional nutrients to our favorite desserts. My sweet potato pie smoothie and carrot cake smoothie recipes are the best of the bunch on this site. These recipes can be adjusted to suit your taste.
Clearly, it is not a huge leap for me to try to find a way to perfect a pecan pie smoothie. I know traditional pecan pie does not call for cinnamon but don’t skip it. The cinnamon helps enhance the pecan flavor. Now I can justify my pecan pie as a nutrient and supplement (maca and flax) delivery system. It doesn’t get much better than that!
